Glass Thermometers Without Mercury

Our ACCU-SAFE thermometers are based on a durable and long-lasting glass design developed specifically for demanding laboratory conditions. The acid- and alkali-resistant scale is permanently diffused into the glass surface, ensuring clear readability even under intensive use. This makes our glass thermometers without mercury a safe and reliable alternative to traditional mercury thermometers, without compromising on measurement stability or accuracy.

FAQ

Modern ACCU-SAFE thermometers use a special organic, non-wetting liquid that is completely mercury-free. Our filling liquid is blue, providing a clear and high-contrast reading. It is environmentally friendly, safe, and ensures precise and reliable measurements in both laboratory and industrial use.

Common alternatives include ACCU-SAFE thermometers, traditional glass thermometers without mercury, digital laboratory thermometers, and various types of electronic measuring systems. All offer high accuracy without the hazards of mercury.

The combination of a shatter-resistant FEP/PTFE safety coating, mercury-free measuring liquid, and robust glass construction makes ACCU-SAFE thermometers especially reliable and safe for temperature measurement.

Yes, ACCU-SAFE thermometers largely meet the strict ASTM tolerance limits and offer the same level of precision that was once only achievable with mercury thermometers.

They are ideal for chemical analysis, food testing, petrochemical testing, environmental measurements, and industrial quality control.

Our ACCU-SAFE thermometers cover a wide temperature range from -50 °C to +200 °C, making them suitable for both very low and high temperature applications in laboratory and industrial environments.

For precise density measurement, you need a tall measuring cylinder, the liquid sample, and the density hydrometer. The cylinder should be at least as tall as the hydrometer itself. As a rule of thumb, the inner diameter should be at least 20 mm larger than the hydrometer’s diameter, so that there is a minimum distance of 10 mm between the hydrometer and the cylinder wall. This ensures the hydrometer can float freely and display the correct value.

To achieve reliable results, fill the measuring cylinder with the sample liquid and place it on a stable, level surface. Before use, check the hydrometer for contamination and clean it if necessary. Insert it carefully into the liquid with a slight rotating movement until it stabilizes. It is important that the hydrometer floats freely and does not touch the bottom or the cylinder wall. Once it has reached equilibrium, you can read the density value directly from the scale at the liquid surface.
